Christinehof Castle, Baroque castle in Tomelilla Municipality, Sweden
Christinehof Castle is a white stone building with tall windows, symmetrical wings, and ornate German Baroque decorations set in the Swedish countryside. The structure stands within grounds that combine formal gardens and natural landscapes.
Christina Piper, widow of a Swedish official, commissioned the building between 1737 and 1740 as a replacement for the earlier Sjöstrup estate. The construction drew upon land from two medieval properties that had merged centuries before.
The castle grounds integrate formal gardens with natural landscapes, representing the 18th-century Swedish nobility's approach to environmental design and agricultural management.
Visitors can explore the building and surrounding grounds independently or join guided tours, which run mainly during warmer months. The location is easily accessible by car and provides parking for guests.
The building stands on land from Kolstrup and Sjöstrup, two medieval properties that merged into one estate in 1387. This joining of two separate medieval holdings made the later construction of the castle possible.
