Södra Björstorps gård

Södra Björstorps gård is an octagonal manor house located in southern Scania. The building features plastered gray stone walls and stands surrounded by traditional farm buildings that form the main courtyard complex.

The main structure was completed in 1775 as a commission by the Malmström family, with Otto Christian Malmström serving as architect. The octagonal design was chosen specifically for this location and differs markedly from other manor houses of the era.

The property demonstrates the evolution of Swedish agricultural estates, from medieval farming practices to contemporary event hosting and special functions.

The estate is accessible on foot via a long avenue lined with stone walls. The complex also includes historical farm buildings such as a grain warehouse and a former distillery building that extend the grounds.

The octagonal building is one of a kind in Sweden and was designed with an enclosed inner courtyard. This architectural choice shows the innovative thinking of the designers in creating a functional yet unconventional design for its time.
