Batteri Roten

Batteri Roten is a coastal battery with multiple artillery positions integrated into the landscape. The reinforced concrete structures were designed to defend against naval threats and still shape the site today.

The battery was built in 1941 as Sweden prepared to defend itself against potential naval threats during World War II. It was part of a broader coastal defense system meant to protect the territory.

The fortification shows military engineering from when Sweden actively defended its coasts. You can still see the heavy concrete structures that reflect the craftsmanship and materials of the region.

The site is accessible by road from Norrtälje and has parking available. Information panels help visitors understand the former functions and layout of the installation.

The original command bunkers and gun positions remain intact and offer views across the Baltic Sea. This preserves a direct impression of how this defense site was strategically designed.
