Måndalsfortet, Military fortification in Tyresö, Sweden.
Måndalsfortet is a military fortress in Tyresö consisting of six main structures built into a hillside. The structures are connected by corridors and equipped with gun ports that integrate into the natural terrain.
The fortress was built in 1903 as part of Stockholm's southern defense system against potential sea attacks. It remained in military use until it was decommissioned in 1952.
The interior walls display contemporary graffiti art, creating an interesting mix between military heritage and modern street expression. This artistic use gives the site a lived-in and unexpected character that goes beyond its military past.
Access is through a forest path with a dedicated parking area about 50 meters from the trail entrance. The walk is easy to manage on foot and well marked.
The site features a two-level bunker system connected by stairs with views toward lakes extending toward the Baltic Sea. These vistas reveal the strategic location and its original importance as a coastal defense.
