Malý Manín, Mountain summit in Považská Bystrica District, Slovakia.
Malý Manín is a limestone summit in the Súľovské Mountains of northwestern Slovakia, rising to about 812 meters with distinctive rock formations scattered across its slopes. The terrain features steep inclines and narrow gorges that create a dramatic landscape.
Archaeological excavations revealed defensive walls from an ancient settlement of the Púchov culture at the summit, dating back several centuries. These findings show the peak was used as a strategically important location in antiquity.
This site serves as a starting point for hikes through Manínska Tiesňava gorge, where locals have long used traditional routes to connect their villages. The surrounding communities of Záskalie and Považská Teplá maintain their connection to this peak through regular visits.
The climb requires careful navigation on unmarked trails, as route markers are sparse in places. The main parking area near the entrance to Manínska Tiesňava gorge offers a convenient starting point for exploration.
The northern slopes contain a section called Drienovka, where two mountain streams flow through narrow limestone canyons toward the Váh River. These hidden waterfalls and gorges are easy to miss despite being one of the main attractions of the hiking area.
