Nam Phi iron mine

Nam Phi iron mine is a historic extraction site with several mining areas and processing facilities spread across the grounds. The site contains natural ponds and old furnaces that remain visible today.

The mine was a major supplier of iron for weapons and metal tools during the Sukhothai period. Iron from here was used for royal projects and military equipment.

Craftspeople in the area have used iron from here for generations to make amulets and other metal items. The work follows traditional methods that continue in small workshops nearby today.

The site sits in a hilly area with sandy roads that become difficult to travel during rainy season. It is best visited during the dry season when the roads are passable.

The iron from this mine shows exceptional resistance to rust. This natural quality made it the preferred material for lasting metalwork over many centuries.
