Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge

Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge is a protected area on the eastern shore of Great Bay featuring diverse habitats and ecosystems. The refuge spans approximately 1,000 acres and includes mud flats, salt marshes, freshwater wetlands, woodlands, and fields where many species live.

The refuge was established in 1992 by the US Fish and Wildlife Service to protect the undeveloped eastern shoreline of Great Bay. This designation came from efforts to preserve an important coastal area and its natural systems.
