Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge, National Wildlife Refuge in Newington, United States
Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge contains 1,000 acres of mud flats, salt marshes, freshwater marshes, swamps, ponds, streams, woodlands, and fields.
The United States Fish and Wildlife Service established this refuge in 1992 to protect the eastern shore of New Hampshire's Great Bay.
The refuge maintains New Hampshire's primary location for wintering bald eagles and functions as a sanctuary for multiple endangered species.
Visitors can reach the refuge through exit 1 from Route 16, following Pease Boulevard and turning right on Arboretum Drive for three miles.
The land features the longest continuous undeveloped shoreline section along Great Bay, supporting essential migratory bird populations throughout the seasons.
