Heartland Village, Staten Island, Residential neighborhood in Staten Island, United States

Heartland Village is a residential neighborhood near the geographic center of Staten Island with single-family homes, townhouses, and two-family dwellings from different periods. The area spreads across several blocks with tree-lined streets and a mix of older and newer construction.

Development began in the late 1960s after the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge opened, transforming what had been rural and forested land. The bridge made commuting to Manhattan easier, spurring residential construction that shaped the neighborhood we see today.

Residents from different backgrounds shape the daily rhythm of the neighborhood through their homes, local shops, and gathering places. You'll notice this diversity reflected in the faces and languages you hear while walking around.

The neighborhood is served by local and express buses running along Richmond Avenue, which provide connections to Manhattan and other parts of the city. Walking is the best way to explore the residential streets, though having a map or GPS can help you navigate the area.

Many original homes from the 1970s are two-story houses with six or seven rooms that remain highly sought-after despite newer construction trends. These older houses form the backbone of the neighborhood and appeal to buyers looking for established character.
