German-born architect Victor Schulte designed the church in 1850, making it one of the oldest surviving religious buildings in Milwaukee.

The church building stands at 605 South 4th Street in Milwaukee and received National Register of Historic Places designation in 1972.
The church interior contains wooden altarpieces constructed in 1890 by Aegidius Hackner from La Crosse, Wisconsin.
