Jennings Randolph Bridge, Road bridge in Chester, United States.
Jennings Randolph Bridge is a road bridge crossing the Ohio River and connecting Chester, West Virginia with East Liverpool, Ohio. The structure carries four traffic lanes and handles the flow of vehicles between the two states.
After the older Chester Bridge became unusable in 1969, this replacement was built to restore the connection between the two states. The new structure was completed and put into service in 1977.
The bridge bears the name of United States Senator Jennings Randolph, who represented West Virginia and contributed to regional transportation development.
The bridge forms part of U.S. Route 30 and serves as a main traffic corridor for both through traffic and local commerce. Drivers should expect standard road conditions and be aware of any maintenance activities that may occur periodically.
An inspection in 2023 revealed damage in the steel structure that led to temporary closures and specialized repair work. These issues show the ongoing effort to keep the bridge safe and functional for the future.
