Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection

The collection spans over 3,000 artworks representing Indigenous Australian art forms, including bark paintings, sculptures, photography, and contemporary pieces.

John W. Kluge began collecting Aboriginal art in 1988 and merged his collection with Edward L. Ruhe's artifacts before donating everything to the University of Virginia in 1997.

The museum maintains direct connections with Indigenous Australian communities, presenting their perspectives on land rights, civil rights, and traditional artistic expressions.

Located at 400 Worrell Drive, the museum offers free admission Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM with guided tours at 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM.

The Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection stands as the only museum in the United States dedicated entirely to Indigenous Australian art and culture.
