Lefcourt Colonial Building, Art Deco skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, United States.
The Lefcourt Colonial Building is a 45-story office tower rising approximately 164 meters (538 feet) in Midtown Manhattan. Its blue terra cotta medallions and gilded ornamental tops are visible from street level.
Built and completed in 1930, the tower was seized in foreclosure two years later during the economic crisis that followed the stock market crash. This loss marked the end of Abraham Lefcourt's real estate empire.
The decorative terra cotta details and layered brickwork show how builders worked in the 1920s. These elements reflect the craftsmanship methods common to that decade in Manhattan.
The tower sits at Madison Avenue and East 41st Street in Midtown with convenient access to multiple subway lines nearby. This location offers easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, and other office buildings in the area.
The building was reproduced as miniature cast replicas sold to collectors, much like the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building across Midtown. Few towers from that era received this kind of attention and popularity among collectors.
