Londontown Manufacturing Company, Inc., Industrial complex in Baltimore, United States.
Londontown Manufacturing Company is a four-story red brick building with a square tower topped by a pointed roof and an open bell tower cupola beside Jones Falls stream. Renaissance Revival architectural details define this industrial complex and its character within the historic mill district.
The building was constructed in 1877 as Meadow Mill for twine manufacturing. In the 1950s it became the headquarters of Londontown Manufacturing Company and afterward produced raincoats for several decades.
The complex shows early American industrial architecture and sits between the Woodberry and Hampden neighborhoods with houses for former mill workers still standing nearby.
The site is located at 3600 Clipper Mill Road and was designated as a National Register of Historic Places property in 1973. Access to the interior is limited, but you can view the exterior facade and distinctive architectural features from the street.
The factory produced London Fog raincoats until manufacturing stopped in 1989. At its peak, the facility made roughly 80 percent of the world's cotton duck fabric.
