Nickerson House, Art museum in Near North Side, Chicago, United States.
The Nickerson House features 17 different types of marble throughout its interior spaces, complemented by onyx, alabaster, and carved wooden elements.
Built in 1883 by banker Samuel Nickerson for $450,000, this residence became one of the first fireproof structures after Chicago's Great Fire of 1871.
The Richard H. Driehaus Museum within the mansion presents exhibitions of decorative arts, focusing on the American Gilded Age and Art Nouveau periods.
Located at 40 East Erie Street, the museum offers guided tours that explain architectural details and showcase original furniture from the Nickerson period.
The American College of Surgeons preserved the mansion in 1916, adding the Murphy Memorial Auditorium in classical style next to the building.
