Northwest Davenport Turner Society Hall
Northwest Davenport Turner Society Hall, German community clubhouse in Davenport, Iowa, United States
The Northwest Davenport Turner Society Hall features a symmetrical two-story structure with a hipped roof and distinctive bracketed eaves at 1602 Washington Street.
Frederick G. Clausen designed the building's 1904 expansion, adding three bays to the north side while maintaining the architectural integrity of the 1882 original structure.
The Turner Society Hall served as a central gathering place for German immigrants, focusing on physical education and community activities since its establishment in 1871.
The building underwent multiple transformations, including conversion to Uncle Roscoe's Polo Club in 1991 and later becoming the Mohassan Grotto, a Masonic organization.
The 1926 renovation modified the main facade with enlarged first-floor windows and transformed the second floor into residential space, adapting to changing community needs.
