Pisgah State Park, Nature reserve in Cheshire County, New Hampshire

Pisgah State Park is a protected nature reserve in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, covering forested hills, wetlands, and seven ponds across the towns of Winchester, Chesterfield, and Hinsdale. It is the largest property in the New Hampshire state park system, with six access points spread around its perimeter.

The land that makes up the park was once used for logging, and remnants of that era, such as old stone walls, can still be found along some trails. Over time the forests grew back, and the state of New Hampshire eventually set the area aside as a protected park.

The park is free and open every day, except during mud season in spring when gates close to protect the trails. There are no facilities inside, so visitors should carry water, food, and clothing suited to the weather.

The park sits within the watershed north of the Ashuelot River, which shapes the pattern of its ponds and wetlands. Trails like the Kilburn Loop and those starting from the Horseshoe Trailhead are described in hiking guides as some of the most remote routes in New Hampshire.
