Prospect Place is a 29-room brick mansion in Trinway featuring solid interior walls reinforced with a two-inch mortar layer between floors designed to prevent fire spread. The structure demonstrates advanced construction methods from the mid-1800s that prioritized safety and structural strength.

George Willison Adams built this residence in 1856 after moving from Virginia to Ohio, where he established an Underground Railroad station. The house was constructed during a period when private mansions played an important role in sheltering freedom seekers.

The mansion serves as the G.W. Adams Educational Center, promoting knowledge about the Underground Railroad and 19th-century architectural practices.

The residence includes pressurized indoor plumbing with a copper cistern tank on the second floor, demonstrating early modern conveniences. Visitors will notice how these systems allowed the household to function with amenities rarely found in homes of that era.

The building features an early ventilation system that channels air from the basement through ducts to upper floors for natural cooling. A specialized refrigeration setup for dairy products demonstrates how residents used technology to preserve food longer.
