Sewickley Bridge, Steel continuous truss road bridge in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, US
The Sewickley Bridge extends 1500 feet across the Ohio River, featuring a central span of 750 feet and two side spans of 375 feet each.
The current structure, opened in 1981, replaced the original 1911 bridge after significant deterioration led to emergency repairs and closures in the late 1970s.
Four decorative finial spires from the original 1911 bridge remain preserved in parks throughout Sewickley and Pittsburgh as historical markers of the earlier structure.
The bridge carries State Route 4025 and the Orange Belt between Sewickley and Moon Township, providing essential transportation across the Ohio River for daily commuters.
The construction team reused the original bridge piers from 1911, incorporating them into the new structure while changing from a cantilever to a continuous truss design.
