Legionville, Archaeological site in Beaver County, United States.

Legionville is an archaeological site along the Ohio River in Beaver County with military structures buried beneath the surface. The grounds extend across approximately 50 acres and contain foundation remnants, firepits, and other structural remains from when it was in operation.

The site was founded in 1792 by General Anthony Wayne as the first United States Army training facility to prepare troops against British-allied Native Americans. It played a crucial role in the nation's early military history.

The site trained military leaders who later shaped the nation's development and exploration. Visitors today can understand its historical role through excavations and preserved structures buried beneath the surface.

The grounds are accessible for archaeological viewing, where visitors can observe excavated foundations and features. It helps to start with local materials or a guide to properly interpret the remains.

Excavations in the 1990s uncovered specialized traces including wagon ruts and chimney remnants that reveal soldier daily life. These details offer a rare glimpse into camp living and training practices of that era.
