T. R. Pugh Memorial Park, Historical water mill park in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
T. R. Pugh Memorial Park is a small public green space in North Little Rock with a water-powered grist mill from the 1880s at its center. The building is made of concrete, with surfaces carefully designed to imitate wood and metal elements.
A man named Justin Matthews created the grounds in 1933 as a memorial to Thomas R. Pugh. The mill building later became known for appearing in a famous film production from the late 1930s.
Mexican artist Dionicio Rodriguez created the concrete sculptures throughout the grounds, representing one of the largest collections of his work in North America. His technique of imitating wood and metal in concrete shapes how visitors experience the place today.
The park is located on Lakeshore Drive and is free to visit for all visitors. The grounds are frequently used for photography sessions and ceremonies, so visiting during quieter times may be worthwhile.
This is one of the few remaining places where a famous old film scene was shot, giving it a special place in cinema history. Visitors can stand at the exact spot where that iconic scene was captured decades ago.
