UnderWater World Guam, Public aquarium in Tamuning, Guam.
UnderWater World Guam is a marine aquarium in Tamuning built around a massive saltwater tank holding roughly 2000 animals from about 80 species. A 319-foot-long tunnel runs beneath the tank, giving you a view looking up at fish and other marine life swimming above your head.
The aquarium opened in 1999 as the first and only oceanarium in the US territory of Guam. It was created to educate people about the marine diversity of the Pacific region.
The facility showcases marine creatures from Guam and the Mariana Islands, helping visitors understand the underwater life of this region. You can observe species that live naturally here and learn about their habitats.
The location is accessible to most visitors and easy to reach. Scheduled shark feeding demonstrations happen regularly, where trained divers explain animal behavior and answer questions.
The main tank holds several shark species, including reef sharks and stingrays, along with sea turtles that swim directly above your head. This close proximity to large predators is what makes the tunnel particularly memorable.
