Built in 1907 by railroad manager William W. Early on his childhood home site, the house remained in family ownership until 1949 with minor modifications in 1940 and 1970.
The residence represents a superior example of Queen Anne domestic architecture in Prince George's County, earning its National Register of Historic Places designation in 1988.
The property encompasses 3,221 square feet of living space and underwent a complete restoration in 2002, maintaining its architectural integrity while adapting to modern standards.
The house incorporated a dedicated business office for William W. Early's role as general manager of the Southern Maryland Railroad during its early years.
