Lynnhaven House

The Lynnhaven House exhibits 18th-century Tidewater Virginia architecture with brick jack arches, closed-spindle staircase, and traditional ship's lap floor construction.

Francis Thelaball constructed this residence in 1725 on a 250-acre plantation, where he lived with his wife Abigail, five sons, an apprentice, and several enslaved individuals.

The interior furnishings demonstrate the typical living conditions of middle-class plantation owners in colonial Virginia during the early 18th century.

The property encompasses five acres of land and includes guided tours that explain the daily routines of colonial households through detailed presentations.

This colonial structure maintains 85 percent of its original materials from the 1720s, including wooden beams, flooring, and multiple functioning fireplaces.
