Broad Bay Manor, Historic manor in Virginia Beach, United States.
Broad Bay Manor is a brick house built along Broad Bay's shoreline in Virginia Beach with Colonial Revival design and Flemish bond brickwork. The building expanded multiple times over the centuries and now stands as a private residence in the Broad Bay Colony neighborhood.
Thomas Allen built the central section around 1640 on land granted by Governor Thomas West or his brother John West. This early structure formed the foundation for the property, which later received additional building additions.
The property maintains its position as a significant example of early European settlement architecture in the southeastern United States through preservation efforts.
The property remains privately owned and located near Virginia Beach, with direct access to the grounds limited. Visitors can view the exterior from the street while respecting the privacy of the current residents.
The house ranks among the oldest surviving European-built structures in the southeastern United States. Its Flemish bond brickwork displays the construction methods that colonial settlers brought from their home countries.
