Christ Church Cathedral

Christ Church Cathedral is an episcopal house of worship built in Romanesque Revival style on Chestnut Street in Springfield. The structure features detailed stonework, ornamental stained glass, and a tower that rises prominently above the surrounding area.

This cathedral was opened in 1876 when the congregation moved to accommodate growing needs at a larger site. The relocation from their former location marked a turning point in how the religious community in Springfield established itself.

Inside the cathedral are a Processional Cross and Office Lights designed by Henry Vaughan, which blend artistic craftsmanship with religious purpose. These hand-created pieces show how beauty and faith meet within this space.
