Hite-Finney House, historic building at 183 North Jefferson Street in Martinsville, Morgan County, Indiana

The Hite-Finney House was a brick residence in Martinsville, Indiana, built in 1855 with mixed architectural styles from that era. The two-story structure combined Greek Revival and Italianate features including fluted columns, a triangular pediment, and decorative window frames.

Built in 1855, the house was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996 for its architectural merit. It suffered partial collapse in 2003 and was destroyed by fire in 2006, leading to its removal from the register in 2012.

The house represented local pride and appreciation for classical design in the community. Residents viewed such buildings as markers of good taste and cultural aspiration during the 1800s.

The house no longer exists and cannot be visited as it was destroyed by fire in 2006. Information about the building is available through photographs and local records that may be consulted at community archives or historical societies.

The house was a rare example of transitional style blending Greek Revival with Italianate features, making it distinctive in Indiana's architectural history. This combination was uncommon and demonstrated how building styles evolved gradually during that period.
