Tiffany Castle

Tiffany Castle is a stone residence in the Pendleton Heights area of Kansas City built with reinforced concrete floors and solid stone walls. The building contains multiple bedrooms, dining areas, a library, conservatory, and basement gymnasium.

In 1909, Dr. Flavel B. Tiffany, a prominent eye doctor, hired architect Clifton B. Sloan to design and build this stone residence. The project represented an ambitious construction effort during a time when such substantial homes were uncommon in the area.

The building displays Tudor-style details with imported wood finishes from multiple countries adorning its interior walls. These international materials shape how the rooms look and feel today.

The property sits on Garfield Avenue in an established residential neighborhood with views overlooking the Missouri River. Visitors should note that the structure stands on sloped terrain and features a spiral staircase leading to the rooftop garden area.

The rooftop garden was designed with capacity to hold up to 500 guests for gatherings. This elevated outdoor space offers surprising scale for what is essentially a private residential home from that era.
