Kansas City City Hall

Kansas City City Hall is a government building with 30 floors and a height of about 443 feet, featuring limestone exterior walls. The top level includes an observation deck with views across the city.

The building was constructed between 1937 and 1939 by architectural firm Wight and Wight. Upon completion, it became the tallest structure in Missouri.

The interior features marble from France, Italy, and Vermont, while brass elevator doors showcase different transportation methods important to the city. These materials and artworks reflect the ambitions and prosperity that the city possessed in the mid-20th century.

Access to the observation deck requires advance planning and an email request to arrange a tour. The deck is open on specific weekdays, so check ahead before visiting.

Seahorse fountains on the south side were named by employees after political terms from the 1930s administration. These sculptural features remain an overlooked detail from the building's era.
