T-Mobile Center, Indoor arena and music venue in Downtown Kansas City, US
The T-Mobile Center is an indoor arena in Downtown Kansas City that can hold up to 19,252 attendees during concerts and sports events. The glass facade spans seven floors above ground and four below street level, with wide corridors and entrances leading to rows of seating.
Construction started in June 2005 and the building opened its doors on October 10, 2007, after roughly two years of work. The project cost 276 million dollars at that time and replaced an older facility downtown.
The hall hosts basketball games and concerts, drawing crowds on evenings when regional teams or musicians perform. Visitors watch groups gather near the entrances and move through the wide corridors as events begin.
Several entrances lead from surrounding streets into the building, and the KC Streetcar stops nearby for visitors without a car. Parking options appear in garages and lots around the structure, most within walking distance.
Digital artworks called The Moons hang on the outer walls and catch the eye after dark with their shifting colors. The Kansas City Municipal Arts Commission commissioned this installation, which now serves as a visual landmark during many events.
