Weepecket Island Bomb Area, Military test site in Gosnold, United States.

Weepecket Island Bomb Area comprises three small islands located off the coast near Gosnold, Massachusetts, with a combined area of around 12.6 acres. The site is now managed as a protected natural area.

The U.S. Navy acquired these islands during the 1940s to use as a bombing practice range, continuing operations until 1957 when military activities ceased. The location served for around 15 years as a training ground for naval aviation.

The islands now serve as a protected nesting area where double-crested cormorants breed and raise their young. This transformation shows how the place shifted from military use to wildlife conservation.

The area is currently undergoing environmental restoration work aimed at returning the habitat to natural conditions. Visitors should check ahead for access restrictions and safety guidelines before planning a visit.

During military operations, the southernmost islet contained a designated bombing target zone marked by a 250-yard radius. Traces of this past remain visible as reminders of the location's former purpose.
