Wellness and Events Center, Athletic venue at New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, US
The Wellness and Events Center is a multi-purpose facility at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, located on Lock Street in Newark. Under one roof, it brings together an arena, a swimming pool, a running track, an indoor turf field, and two gymnasiums.
The center opened in November 2017, marking the largest expansion of the institute's athletic infrastructure in decades. It replaced older and more limited facilities, giving the campus its first modern multi-use arena for large-scale events.
The center is a regular gathering point on campus, hosting basketball games, job fairs, and graduation ceremonies throughout the year. Visitors can easily sense how actively the space is used, with students and staff moving through it at almost any time of day.
The building sits on the main part of the NJIT campus and can be reached on foot from nearby campus buildings. Because the facility has several entrances serving different areas, it helps to check in advance which one leads to the specific area you are heading to.
The building officially bears the names of Joel and Diane Bloom, donors whose support made the project possible. Their contribution helped fund a facility that goes well beyond what a mid-size urban institute would typically be able to offer its students.
