Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park, Nature reserve and park in Westchester County, New York

Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park is a protected nature reserve and public park in Westchester County, New York. It covers forested land, open meadows, two lakes, and includes a large outdoor pool open in summer.

The land once housed a hospital and a training school for boys before the state took it over in the early 1900s. In the 1930s, young men from the Civilian Conservation Corps built many of the roads, structures, and planted trees that still stand today.

The park draws families, runners, and nature lovers from across the region throughout the year. Around Mohansic Lake, people gather to fish, paddle, or simply sit and watch the birds that move along the water.

The park is open year-round and can be visited in any season, each offering different outdoor conditions. A car is the most practical way to get there, as parking is available on site and signs at the entrances make it easy to find your way.

The park has a disc golf course where players throw discs into metal baskets, with a choice of 9 or 18 holes. Loaner discs are available at the park office, so first-time players can try it without any equipment.
