Stonum is a colonial brick house in New Castle with two and a half stories and a gabled roof. The building has a four-bay facade, original pine flooring, and a nine-foot entrance.
History
The house was built in 1730 and served as a country retreat for George Read, a Delaware Senator. Read signed both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.

The house displays architectural elements typical of wealthy colonial families in the 18th century. The rooms with their fireplaces and carved woodwork reflect the craftsmanship of that era.
