Israel Beetison House, Italianate residence in Ashland Township, US.
The Israel Beetison House is a residential structure in Ashland Township featuring vertical windows, decorative brackets, and a low-pitched roof. These elements characterize the Italianate style that emerged in Nebraska during the Victorian era.
The Dalton Brothers designed and built this house in 1874 during Nebraska's settlement period. Its construction marked a shift toward more sophisticated architecture as economic conditions in the region improved.
The structure represents the emergence of Italianate architecture in Nebraska, following a period when Greek and Gothic Revival styles were less prevalent.
The property once occupied about one acre of land in southeastern Ashland Township. Visitors should note that the building no longer stands due to a destructive fire in recent years.
A fire in April 2022 destroyed the building, leading to its removal from the National Register of Historic Places in 2023. This loss marked the end of one of the region's important Victorian-era architectural examples.
