Eugene T. Mahoney State Park

Eugene T. Mahoney State Park is a protected nature area along the Platte River with trails, lodging, and recreational facilities. The grounds include an aquatic center, observation structures, and spaces for outdoor activities throughout the property.

Nebraska acquired the land in 1985 and named it after a state senator who worked to improve the state park system. The naming recognized his contribution to expanding outdoor recreation access.

The theater here presents shows for visitors throughout the year. Some cabin areas have names inspired by Irish locations.

Entry to the park requires a permit that can be obtained upon arrival or reserved ahead of time. Lodging in the main building or cabin accommodations should be booked well in advance to ensure availability.

The grounds feature a tall climbing wall with automatic safety systems for independent practice. An elevated ropes course winds through tree sections and offers challenges above the forest floor.
