Planet Word, Language museum in Northwest Washington, United States

Planet Word occupies the Franklin School building, featuring interactive exhibits across 50,000 square feet of space dedicated to language exploration and communication.

The Franklin School building, designed by architect Adolf Cluss, opened in 1869 and became the site of Alexander Graham Bell's first photophone transmission in 1880.

The museum presents over 7,000 languages through digital displays, voice-activated exhibits, and educational programs that demonstrate worldwide linguistic diversity.

Located at 13th and K Streets, Planet Word offers free admission, houses the Present Perfect gift shop, and includes the Immigrant Food restaurant on its lower level.

A 22-foot-high speaking wall responds to visitors' voices, while interactive galleries allow guests to paint with words and solve linguistic puzzles.
