United States Army Europe Band and Chorus, Military band unit at Sembach Kaserne, Germany
The United States Army Europe Band and Chorus is a military music organization composed of several specialized performing groups including the Concert Band, Ceremonial Band, Soldiers Chorus, and Dixieland Band. These distinct ensembles each serve different purposes, from official military ceremonies and diplomatic events to public concerts and cultural performances across Europe.
The organization was founded in 1940 as the 367th Infantry Band and underwent several restructurings throughout its existence. It received its present name in 1952 while based in Wiesbaden, establishing the musical traditions it continues today.
The ensemble performs alongside European musicians, demonstrating how music can build bridges between nations. Visitors at concerts experience a blend of American and European musical traditions reflected in the program choices and collaborative performances.
Most performances require advance registration or tickets, as events take place at various locations across Europe. Check the performance schedule ahead of time and be aware of access procedures for military installations if concerts are held on base grounds.
In 2010 the band became the first American military ensemble to perform at Moscow's Red Square during the Spasskaya Tower Festival. This landmark appearance demonstrated the power of music to transcend geopolitical barriers and foster understanding between nations.
