USS Silversides Museum, Naval museum in Muskegon, Michigan, United States
The USS Silversides Museum displays a World War II submarine along with exhibits on naval warfare, submarine technology, and the daily lives of submariners who served during the war.
The USS Silversides served in the Pacific theater from 1941 to 1945 and achieved 23 confirmed sinkings totaling over 90,000 long tons (82,000 metric tons) of enemy shipping during its combat operations.
The museum honors the service and sacrifice of submarine crews while educating visitors about the technological innovations and strategic importance of undersea warfare in American naval history.
The museum operates Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with ticket sales ending 30 minutes before closing.
Visitors can climb aboard and explore the interior spaces of the actual submarine, including the control room, torpedo room, and cramped living quarters where sailors spent months at sea during wartime patrols.
