Highland Park Water Tower

The Highland Park Water Tower is a water tower in Highland Park, Illinois. The octagonal brick structure rises 125 feet (38 meters) and features classical architectural details with tall arches on each of its eight sides.

The structure was built between 1929 and 1930 by architects Coffin, Pearse, Greeley and Hansen as the town's third water infrastructure project. It replaced earlier systems and marked an important step toward modern water distribution for the growing community.

The tower has become a visual landmark that defines the town's skyline, and visitors often pause to photograph it from Green Bay Road where its proportions are most striking.

The structure stands directly beside Green Bay Road and is easy to spot and access from the street. The best viewing angle is from the road itself, where you can see its full proportions and architectural details.

Despite serving as practical infrastructure, the structure was designed with classical architectural elements that turned it into a visual landmark rather than a purely functional object. This blend of utility and beauty is visible in its carefully proportioned arches and detailed brickwork.
