Guardian Angels Church

Guardian Angels Church is a Gothic Revival Catholic building made of red brick with six large stained glass windows running along each side of the sanctuary. A central bell tower rises above the structure and a pipe organ sits in the balcony.

The church was built between 1888 and 1890 under the direction of Father H. W. Grimme. The construction required bricks sourced from local producers in the surrounding area.

The building reflects the heritage of the German and Irish communities who settled here. You can see this blend in the craftsmanship of the interior and the way the architecture combines influences from both traditions.

The church sits on Fifth Street and accommodates around 450 visitors in the main sanctuary area. Its central location in Manistee makes it easy to find and reach.

The bell tower reaches 180 feet high and is the tallest structure in town, containing twelve large bells. These bells can be played from a keyboard located in the choir loft, which is an unusual feature for a church of this size.
