Lake Barkley Bridge

Lake Barkley Bridge is a road crossing over the lake in Kentucky with four vehicle lanes plus separate paths for cyclists and pedestrians. The structure uses modern LED lighting for visibility and has safety features including wide offsets between traffic sections and outer shoulders.

The area was originally served by a bridge built in 1932 and named in honor of Henry R. Lawrence. Construction of the current structure began in 2015 to replace this older crossing.

The bridge links communities on both sides of the water and makes it easy for people to reach the Land Between the Lakes area. For locals, it serves as a key connection to outdoor activities and natural exploration.

The bridge is open to cars, cyclists, and pedestrians at all times and well-lit, making it safe to cross whenever you need. The separate paths keep different users from interfering with each other's travel.

The bridge features a rare basket-handle tied-arch design found in only about a dozen structures worldwide. This construction method makes it a notable example of modern bridge engineering.
