Lake Barkley State Resort Park

Lake Barkley State Resort Park is a large natural area positioned along the Barkley Reservoir shoreline with accommodation options, trails for walking, and recreational spaces. The property spreads across the eastern water edge and provides bases for overnight visitors.

The park was founded in 1964 following the creation of Barkley Reservoir through dam construction on the Cumberland River. This water project transformed the landscape and enabled the development of the recreation area.

The park serves as an educational center with nature programs teaching visitors about Kentucky's native wildlife, plant species, and environmental conservation methods.

The site is located west of Cadiz and accessible via US Highway 68. It offers camping spaces and overnight lodgings with supporting facilities such as bathhouses and supply options.
