Sedgley Woods, Disc golf course in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, US.
Sedgley Woods is a 27-hole disc golf course in Fairmount Park featuring three tee positions at each hole to accommodate different playing abilities. The layout includes concrete, rubber mat, and gravel tees with baskets designed for various skill levels.
The course was established in 1977 on the grounds of a former colonial estate called The Cliffs, which Joshua Fisher owned in the 1700s. The historic property was eventually repurposed as a recreational disc golf facility.
The Friends of Sedgley Woods organization maintains the course and organizes weekly tag matches, monthly tournaments, and community maintenance events throughout the year.
The course is free to play from sunrise to sunset and operates as an open public facility. Walking through wooded terrain means the ground can be uneven, so wearing appropriate footwear is helpful.
The back nine holes wind through a secluded natural area that presents additional technical challenges not found on earlier holes. Many visitors overlook this quieter section, making it a hidden gem for more experienced players.
