Lion's Mound, War memorial in Uccle, Belgium.

The Lion's Mound stands 41 meters tall with a diameter of 169 meters, featuring a cast iron lion statue at its summit overlooking the Waterloo battlefield.

King William I of the Netherlands commissioned this artificial hill in 1820, marking the location where Prince William of Orange sustained injuries during the 1815 battle.

The monument serves as a focal point for military history enthusiasts, drawing visitors who study the strategies employed during the Battle of Waterloo.

Visitors need to climb 226 steps to reach the observation platform, where detailed maps and telescopes assist in understanding the battlefield layout.

The construction required 300,000 cubic meters of earth, which workers extracted directly from the central ridge of the original British battle line.
