Hanklit, Coastal cliff in Morsø Municipality, Denmark.
The Hanklit cliff formation reaches 60 meters in height and displays alternating layers of light moler sediment and dark volcanic ash bands.
The geological structure of Hanklit formed over 55 million years ago when Denmark was covered by an ancient sea filled with microscopic algae.
The local community purchased Hanklit in 1937 to protect it from commercial exploitation, leading to its current protected status as a natural monument.
Two parking areas near Hanklit provide access to nature trails and information boards that guide visitors through the geological features.
The cliff contains 145 distinct volcanic ash layers within its moler composition, creating an important site for studying Earth's geological timeline.
