The site was named after German naturalist Alexander von Humboldt, who conducted scientific research on plant ecology in Tenerife during the late 1700s. His visit and work brought the area international attention and deepened understanding of Canary Islands ecology.
Information panels displayed here explain the geological formations and native plant species found across the Canary Islands in both English and Spanish. Visitors learn about the natural environment and what makes it distinctive.
This viewpoint sits at about 600 meters in elevation and is easily accessible by car with ample parking available on site. A restaurant and restrooms are located here, and pathways are suitable for visitors with mobility challenges.
On very clear days, visitors can spot the islands of La Palma and El Hierro far across the Atlantic Ocean from this location. These distant views are a special moment that not all visitors experience on every visit.
