Description
The Museum of Lakeland Life occupies the original Georgian stables of Abbot Hall Art Gallery and displays objects from the Lake District region. The collection includes farming and craft tools as well as household furnishings that document local history.
History
The museum opened in 1971 and was inaugurated by Princess Alexandra. It soon earned recognition as the first Museum of the Year in the United Kingdom in 1973.

The displays show traditional farming tools and home objects that shaped everyday life in the Lake District. You can see how people worked and lived in this region across different periods.
