Selitrennoye Gord

Selitrennoye Gord is an archaeological site located on elevated ground with remains of fortified structures from earlier times. The ruins display remnants of residential areas, workshops, and defensive installations that have been preserved underground.

The area was settled from the 13th to 15th centuries and served as an important center during that medieval period. After this time, the settlement was abandoned and eventually rediscovered through excavation work.

The site shows how people lived in a medieval city where craftspeople and residents worked side by side. The excavated areas reveal everyday activities and trades that kept the settlement functioning.

Visitors should wear sturdy footwear since the ground is uneven and excavations are ongoing. Guided tours are available, but it is wise to check conditions beforehand since accessibility varies depending on the season.

Pottery kilns were discovered at this location, showing how building materials like bricks were manufactured roughly 600 years ago. These findings offer rare insights into the craft techniques of that era.
