Collegiate Church of St. Mary Magdalene Penitent, Collegiate church in Atrani, Italy
The church structure consists of three naves with shallow chapels along smaller naves, supported by pillars and featuring a barrel-vaulted roof with decorative stucco.
Built in 1274 on medieval fortress ruins, the church received collegiate status from Pope Clement XI in 1706 due to population growth.
The church contains numerous statues, including a Madonna shepherdess from 1789 and paintings by Andrea Sabatini displaying religious scenes in lateral chapels.
The church opens during services, with summer volunteers maintaining extended hours, and visitors need to contact the sacristan for access.
The bell tower rises in five levels, with three square stories and two octagonal ones, showcasing gray tuff architectural elements from the 1500s.
