Basilica del Crocifisso

The Basilica del Crocifisso features three naves, with its central area connected to Saint Andrew's Cathedral through a colonnade of ancient marble columns.

Records from the 6th century mention this basilica, which suffered damage in 839 when Sicard, Prince of Salerno, invaded Amalfi to steal Saint Trofimena's relics.

The museum within the basilica displays a collection of religious artifacts, including silver items, vestments, crosses, and various artworks from the Cathedral.

Visitors can access the basilica through the Cathedral's atrium, which features bronze doors from Constantinople and an 8th-century marble portal with geometric designs.

The basilica underwent a 60-year renovation starting in 1931 to remove Baroque additions and reveal its original Medieval structure and wall system.
